A Woman’s Rejuvenation.

Post-Winter & Pre-Spring

Winter is coming to an end.

There are things I have come to appreciate, and I do not want to rush Winter out the door.

I want to linger in it as long as I can.

Not wanting to come out of a warm, weighted blanket – I will come out slowly; in its rightful time.

I want to respect the healing that Winter offered me.

Next year: I will see Winter coming, and I will look it in the eye. I will greet it, and let it in. When I start to feel the drag of Winter, I will treat myself like a favored child – with kindness and love. I will keep myself well fed and make sure I get enough sleep. I will take myself for walks in the fresh air and spend time doing things that soothe me.

Pre-Springing

I know the seeds I want to plant; beauty, strength, courage, and grace – but timing is of utmost importance for a ‘”seasoning woman.”

A Seasoning Woman: a woman who indulges in the luxury of the four seasons.

The seeds rest in my mind for now. The ground is not quite ready to plant.

We must emerge slowly from our Wintering – we must gradually unfurl our new leaves.

It often seems easier to stay in Winter, burrowed down into hibernation nests, away from the glare of the sun, but we are brave and the new world awaits us; gleaming and green.

I am still Wintering – still in the unknown stillness of Winter.

I am still in the stillness of deep rest, and in hibernating away the accumulation of exhaustion and fatigue.

There is a small subtle stirring of Spring, but not yet.

So what to do in this space between Wintering and Springing?

Winter brought about deep restorative rest. My inner land and inner soil needed to be cleansed, healed, and allowed to regenerate.

It’s time to prepare for rejuvenation.

Rejuvenation: a process of giving new energy, and new vigor – to restore youthfulness.

I feel some anxious-excitement to start planting, but not yet. There are still three more weeks of Winter’s stillness.

Preparing for Rejuvenation.

I will allow the Ayurvedic lifestyle to support pre-springing.

Ayurvedic practices have great potential for improved energy, strength, and immunity, as well as a renewed love of life.*

I will give the physical body a gift of deep rest and purification with an Ayurvedic cleanse.

While this cleanse is workable at any time of year, it will be especially beneficial at the junction between seasons, when our bodies are already ripe with a sense of transition. *

Final Exfoliation

Wintering is a time of death – in preparation for new life.

We allow Winter to put to death old assumptions, old ideas, and old stories that are less than useful or have run their course.

When we allow Winter’s death, it changes the course of our life.

Wintering is a time of inner exfoliation, and as I prepare to plant seeds of beauty this Spring.

I will use the Korean Beauty practice of a full-body scrub to finalize the removal of old, dead cells.

I will continue sauna and my current Wintering practices as I cultivate patience and learn to “season well” – so as to not rush into a new season before its time.

As for my fellow seasoning women: we have kind of a gospel to tell now and a duty to share it. We who have Wintered have learned some things we sing it out like birds and let our voices fill the air.
